Stemless.co featured at Tech Crunch’s Seattle Pitch Off
Last Thursday, the women of Stemless headed north to the our sister city, Seattle for the Tech Crunch Seattle Pitch Off. Ten tech startup contestants were selected out of hundreds of applicants to compete for Tech Crunch Disrupt tickets in San Francisco. As one of only two female-owned startups set to be on stage that night, we felt incredibly grateful to represent women in the tech space!
We loaded up the car in Portland with coffee, snacks and our absolute tech-nerd excitement. Making our our way up I5, we worked to fold in all the awesome things Stemless.co can do for dispensaries into a 60 second pitch – a Tech Crunch requirement. We practiced for hours with Founder and CEO, Koushi Sunder, throwing in various purposeful distractions to test her focus. After a few awkward and hilarious encounters at truck stops along the way, we landed in Seattle feeling super prepared for the evening ahead. An early arrival gave us time to play tourist, explore the city, and maximize pitch practicing along the way.
Showbox SoDo, the venue that hosted the event, was packed as Tech Crunch’s annual pitch-off was about to commence. In true alphabetical fashion, Stemless was set to go on stage near the end of the line-up. Koushi nailed the pitch in the required 60 seconds and wasn’t a second over! The crowd went wild and we were sure we’d have a spot at the top. After much debate from the judges, OffTheRecord.com beat us out of 3rd place and we finished in 4th; out of hundreds of potential companies, we’ll take it! We had many folks after the event compliment our performance, including the women of Boundless.co, and sent us along with lots of positive feedback!
Tech Crunch also recognized our performance and gave us a shout out on their website:
Honorable mention: Stemless
The audience choice is, as you might guess, determined by the reaction of the audience, but it was so close in this case that we had to have a cheer-off. Stemless, which provides compliant listing, check-out and delivery logistics for small weed merchants, deserves a shout-out. It’s a dangerous and competitive market, but their product is well thought out and could make data plays down the line.
We are so honored and proud of where we are today and working to expand to the state of Washington in the upcoming months!
